Specialization:

As the Director of Projects, Kim is responsible for project execution by providing the structure, support and systems that enables Fransen to meet the company’s financial and client expectations with every project. He is responsible in maintaining a professional standard of practice and quality of work with respect to all projects within Fransen. He is involved heavily in Engineering Operations, directly responsible for the Client Managers, Project Services, Document Control and the project management team. By establishing a Project Management Office, he is building internal systems and procedures for continuous improvement of the quality of project management and execution. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and well versed in project management methodologies and processes, including significant experience in Project Controls. Equipped with a MBA program and certified management accountant (CMA) certification, Kim brings a business perspective to company strategy and long-range planning.

 

Kim has over eighteen years of industrial plant engineering experience as a Project Manager and Project Engineer. He has managed projects of various sizes, ranging from maintenance projects to moderate greenfield projects. He has a proven ability to lead multi-discipline design teams to execute projects on budget, schedule and quality. Trained as a mechanical engineer, Kim has technical expertise in heavy industrial plant design, specifications, mechanical and piping systems design, and construction management, particularly in the oil sands and pulp and paper industries.

 

Kim is registered as a Professional Engineer with both the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia and Alberta.
